Union Minister for Communication Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on Thursday that the Indian government is devising strategies to bolster the financial stability of Indian Telecom Industries Limited (ITI). The minister expressed the ministry's commitment to transforming ITI into a sustainable enterprise.
During a visit to
ITI Limited, Scindia highlighted the crucial role the institution has played in
the telecom revolution in India. He praised the company's technological
advancements, which have evolved from manufacturing rotary and push-button dial
phones to producing core telecom equipment, radio access networks, routers, and
PCB boards.
Following a
meeting with ITI officials, Scindia expressed optimism about ITI's future,
stating that the company is poised to play an even more significant role in the
rapidly transforming telecom landscape. When questioned about the ministry's
support for modernising ITI’s technology and manufacturing capabilities, he
affirmed, "Yes. I believe the management of ITI must take on that
responsibility."
Scindia further elaborated that the ministry's primary focus is to ensure the organisation's sustainability. “At this point in time, we are working on multiple strategies to make ITI more financially sound. I am very confident that a whole-of-government approach will help achieve that,” he remarked.
